Awakening is intentionally designed to be flexible, and you can participate at any level and should the dates need to be adjusted to fit your ministry calendar, please feel free to do so.
Fasting
Some participants pray and fast all 21 days. Others choose one or two days a week or one meal per day. The choice is really up to you. The main goal is that we all come together, during this time at the beginning of the year, to pray, fast and seek God.
There are many different types of fasts that can be used. One commonly used fast by some people is a "Daniel fast," patterned after Daniel's example in Daniel chapter one. Those who choose this kind of fast do not eat meat, sweets, or drink wine for 21 days. See this link for more information. Prayer, Fasting and Devotion Guide
Prayer
Drawing near to God in prayer is the primary focus of this event. The website: awake21.org has information and resources to help you in preparing for this special prayer and fasting time.
ray for Teen Challenge Centers
Another suggestion we would like to offer is that you print off a list of all the Teen Challenge centers in the world and use this as part of your prayer time during this 21 day period of special prayer. Click here for TC Directory.
Devotions
In addition to the free tips, tools and resources found at awake21.org, this year Awakening has added the Awake21 Virtual Conference. Inspired by Daniel's passionate example to seek after God morning, noon and night (Daniel 6) Awake21.org will host 3 to 4 virtual sessions daily for 21 days.
During the fast, people from all around the world can attend the Awake21 Virtual Conference, where some of the most influential leaders in the Church today will be speaking about prayer, fasting, personal devotion or drawing closer to God.
The Awake21 Virtual Conference will be a place where people can tune into the website regularly and get a "spiritual meal" to fuel and strengthen them during their fast. We hope you can participate, and we encourage you to promote this to your leadership and ministry. |
